The Week That Would Have Been – The Banknote Conference 2020

May 15, 2020 | Articles, Company News

Tradeshows and events in most countries are on pause as the world battles the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Before the rapid spread of COVID-19, The Banknote Conference would have taken place on May 11-14, 2020 in Washington, D.C. The event has been postponed to November 2-5, 2020 and the Nanotech team is still excited be a part of the largest global gathering of the Currency Industry and sponsor the welcome reception.

The Banknote Conference is an important event for Nanotech as it is a definitive forum on emerging trends and leading technologies in the banknote industry, attended by central banks, printworks, cash cycle stakeholders and leading industry suppliers. We truly miss being with the industry this week, connecting with customers and partners as the conference was originally scheduled.

However, every dark cloud has a silver lining! Originally, Nanotech Security was supposed to present our latest KolourDepth™ security feature at the event. Exclusive to the government and banknote industry, KolourDepth delivers an always-on feature encompassing 3D depth, movement, and multiple colours in a wide array of custom designs that capture and hold the user’s attention. With the event postponed, we now have an opportunity to present another brand new product for the Banknote industry that we have been working on! This product has been developed through learning, sharing, and collaboration with our banknote peers and developing innovative technology coupled with secure features – that the industry demands!

Nanotech will demonstrate how our new products’ stunning visuals and security features can help Central Banks and Governments protect the public from currency counterfeiters and counterfeit-related economic losses, at the conference welcome reception in November. To RSVP, please click here.

Another recent exciting announcement – Nanotech’s KolourOptik® Platform was selected as finalist for the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) 2020 Excellence in Currency Technical Awards, in the category of ‘Best New Currency Innovation’. The nomination recognizes Nanotech’s recent advances in its KolourOptik technology platform, specifically its innovative process of using hybrid micro and nanostructures for creating optically variable banknote security features.

We look forward to this important event, the networking opportunities it brings, joining our peers and contributing to the rich and critical discussions that are affecting the banknote industry. To know more about our offerings for this industry, visit
