Board of directors

Doug Blakeway
Chairman of the Board

Mr. Blakeway founded and leads Nanotech Security Corp. He is an entrepreneur and inventor who, over several decades, has founded and operated a number of successful companies both locally and in international markets. These companies have ranged from service-oriented firms to high tech electronic and wireless manufacturing organizations. Mr. Blakeway is quite active in the Canadian business community and at Simon Fraser University. He is also a director of Kanzen Capital Corp., and Wireless Industry Partnership Connector Inc., as well as a member of Simon Fraser University (SFU) Surrey – Business Advisory Council, and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at SFU Venture Connection.

Ron Barbaro
Member of Compensation Committee

Mr. Barbaro is a corporate director and advisor. He is Chairman of the Board of Smart Employee Benefits Inc. since 2013 and joined the advisory board of NowPac INC. in 2017. Over the years Mr. Barbaro has held many director positions including Chairman and CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (1998-2003), Chairman of The Brick Group (2004-2012), President, The Prudential Insurance Company of America (worldwide operations) (1990-1993), and Special Advisor and Chairman of the Premier of Ontario’s Economic Recovery Team (2003-2005).

Brian Causey
Member of Audit Committee

Mr. Causey joined Nanotech Security in October 2009 as Director, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary. He is a Chartered Prof. Accountant with more than 40 years of experience and a former Partner in KPMG, LLP with expertise in financing, corporate reorganization and specialized tax planning initiatives. He is the principal of BFC Financial Consulting.

Dickson Hall
Member of Compensation Committee

Mr. Hall is a partner in Valuestone Advisors LTD., sole advisor to Valuestone Global Resource Fund 1, a private equity mining fund established in partnership with Jiangxi Copper Corporation and China Construction Bank International. He is a director of Newport Concept Corp. and Kona Bay Technologies INC. From 2005-2016 he directed business development efforts in Asia for Hunter Dickinson Inc., a Canadian-based resource group.

Bozena Kaminska
Member of Audit Committee

Dr. Kaminska’s academic career spans four decades and four nations, including a professor post at the University of Montréal and Senior Canada Research Chair in wireless sensor networks and Professor at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. She is Chair of the Board of Directors for CMC Microsystems Inc. Previously, Dr. Kaminska served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer with Credence Corp in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Kaminska is a prolific inventor with major contributions to science and innovation.

Kenneth Tolmie
Chairman of Audit Committee, Chairman of Compensation Committee

Mr. Tolmie is the Chief Financial Officer, principal shareholder and a director of APRIO Inc., a privately held governance information software company. He is a director and officer of a number of private companies and has previously served in senior executive and financial positions with Hastings West Investment Ltd., The Beacon Group of Companies, Premier Diagnostic Health Services Inc., a CNSX listed British Columbia Company and other junior companies in technology, film and other industries.

Bernhard Zinkhofer

Mr. Zinkhofer is a practicing corporate lawyer and partner in the Vancouver office of McMillan LLP, Barristers & Solicitors. He practises in the areas of corporate securities and related commercial matters including natural resource and technology transfer. Mr. Zinkhofer obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1977, became a Member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1980 after articling with a predecessor of KPMG Peat Marwick Thorne and obtained a LLB from the University of Victoria in 1983. He has served as a director of Nanotech and its predecessors for most of the preceding 12 years.

Troy Bullock, CPA, CA
President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Bullock is a senior finance professional with more than 20 years of international experience who has a strong track record in both public and private companies with public accounting, restructuring and corporate finance duties at KPMG and Deloitte. Mr. Bullock brings more than a decade of senior financial leadership where he has served as CFO at Norsat International Inc., Ascalade Communications Inc., and most recently as CEO at Stormtech Performance Apparel Ltd. He is a veteran of companies characterized by significant growth, international operations, and sophisticated commercial transactions.

Igi LeRoux, BSc., MSc.
Chief Business Development Officer

Mr. LeRoux joined Nanotech as part of the acquisition of Fortress Optical Features Ltd where he served as CEO for four years. Mr. LeRoux started his career in product research and development of printing and security features of banknotes and high security documents. He brings 25 years’ experience in the banknote industry where his career evolved from product R&D, Business Development, and Industry Consulting, into General Management. During this time Mr. LeRoux worked in a select few of the most notable companies in the banknote industry. He has been instrumental and successful in development and commercialization of a number of emerging technologies, concepts and businesses in the banknote industry.

Clint Landrock, B.Eng., M.ASc.
Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Landrock serves as the CTO for Nanotech and is the primary inventor of the company’s patented nano-optic technology. He is an expert scientist in the study of nanotechnology and currently holds a number patents in this area. Mr. Landrock completed his Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering at Ryerson University in Toronto and earned a Masters of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University.

Ron Ridley, B.Eng., MBA
Vice President, Operations

Mr. Ridley joined Nanotech as part of the strategic acquisition of Fortress Optical Features Ltd. where he was Chief Operating Officer for three years. Mr. Ridley has been involved in the security device industry for over 20 years in both government and private companies in various engineering, research & development and management roles. Mr. Ridley has a strong track record in project, operations and production management. Mr. Ridley completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa and earned a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Ottawa.

Monika Russell, CPA, CA
Vice President, Finance

Monika Russell joined Nanotech in February 2018, bringing more than 15 years’ experience in financial reporting and regulatory compliance in a public company environment. Most recently, Ms. Russell was Controller & Corporate Secretary of Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. through a period of significant corporate change, including refinancing, restructuring and M&A activities that culminated in a merger with Norbord Inc. Ms. Russell oversees the Company’s reporting, internal controls, tax and regulatory reporting. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.

Joe Vosburgh B.Eng.
Vice President, Marketing

Joe Vosburgh joins the Company as VP Marketing with over 20 years experience in the successful development and commercialization of breakthrough technologies. His work encompasses operational leadership, marketing strategy, product development and business case execution across a range of high-technology products and services. He has held senior product strategy and leadership positions at Creo, Ballard Power Systems, Corvus Energy, Schneider Electric and Igloo Innovations. Most recently, Mr. Vosburgh was COO of Igloo Innovations where he drove considerable growth in revenue and profitability, as well as successful expansion into adjacent markets and services. Mr. Vosburgh’s key responsibilities at Nanotech will include strategic marketing, planning and product development. He will also drive all activities relating to corporate communications, branding, and marketing communications. Mr. Vosburgh holds an MBA in Marketing and Accounting from Queen’s University, and an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Victoria, both with honors distinction.
